Met office severe weather warning – Electricity use
The Met Office issues severe weather warnings to help the public prepare for and stay safe during extreme weather conditions. These warnings are categorized into three levels: yellow, amber, and red, depending on the severity and likelihood of the weather event.
Currently, there are yellow severe weather warnings for heavy rain in the South East, including Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, and Surrey. These warnings are in effect from 21:00 BST on Wednesday until 23:59 on Friday. The Met Office has indicated that flooding, transport disruption, and power cuts are possible.
You can stay updated on the latest weather warnings by visiting the Met Office website.

The Met Office has issued yellow severe weather warnings for heavy rain in the South East, including East Sussex, from 21:00 BST on Wednesday until 23:59 on Friday. These warnings indicate potential impacts such as flooding, transport disruption, and power cuts.
During severe weather events, electricity usage can be affected in several ways:
Power Cuts: Heavy rain and flooding can damage infrastructure, leading to power outages.
Increased Demand: People may use more electricity to stay warm and dry, increasing the load on the grid.
Emergency Services: Additional electricity may be required for emergency services and repairs.
It’s always a good idea to prepare for potential power cuts by having essentials like flashlights, batteries, and a backup power source if possible.
